Full truckload shipping (FTL) is a type of shipping method whereby a truck carries one dedicated shipment where the journey is reserved for one shipment only. Turning some pallets sideways, known as pinwheeling, can fit 28 to 30, but only when both the shipper and receiver have forklifts that can handle it. For heavy freight, weight runs out before floor space does: most 53-foot trailers carry about 42,000 to 45,000 lbs (19,000 to 20,400 kg) of cargo, so 26 pallets at 2,000 lbs (907 kg) each would go over the limit.
